The Skeleton Root is an urban winery and event space located on the northern edges of Over-the-Rhine. It services as a small to mid-sized winery reception and rehearsal dinner space with a capacity of up to 100 guests.
The space is located on the second floor of a historic industrial space showing its old rough edges – a sort of grunge aesthetic. Day to day, the room serves as the wine house, with the vintners sourcing grapes and processing them into their collection of wines and pouring them Thursday through Sunday when they do not have private events.
An Industrial Vibe and Communal Tables
The interior has ample exposed brick and between its historic use as a place of manufacturing, and current use of producing wines, the space has a very industrial feel. Exposed brick walls and wood ceiling supports further enhance this feel, and large windows look out to neighboring buildings. To foster a sense of community and sharing, particularly of bottles, the Skeleton Root has large communal tables and an exterior patio.
Outside catering is available for private events. When visiting on a normal day of operation, they have small plates available and outside food is not permitted. No parking is on-site – there is on-street parking around the venue, and paid lots around Findlay Market. It’s a couple blocks from the nearest streetcar stop in front of Rhinegeist Brewery.
The venue has a smallish back parking lot that’s built into the slope up to Mt. Auburn, and rear entrance that makes it handicap accessible even though its on the second floor of a building without an elevator.
